The objective of this project was to explore the intersection of graphic design and music through the lens of community and creative collaboration. I created Muse, an interactive exhibition and digital platform that connects music lovers and graphic designers, encouraging them to share, experiment, and co-create. After researching the evolving relationship between music and visual design—from physical media to digital experiences—I focused on inspiring creative exchange and reimagine how we engage with music and design in a digitally saturated world.

CONTEXT

CONTEXT

Background

As music consumption has shifted from physical formats to digital platforms, the role of graphic design has evolved alongside it—moving from album covers and liner notes to immersive, screen-based experiences. This transformation has changed not only how music is distributed and discovered, but also how it is visually represented and emotionally felt. My thesis investigates how these changes have affected the collaboration between musicians and designers, and how new technologies have opened doors to more interactive, multimedia storytelling.

Why It Matters

Muse emerges from a desire to reclaim a sense of physicality and intentionality in the way we engage with music and design. In a time when visual content is often consumed passively through scrolling, Muse invites people to slow down, explore, and participate. It reimagines the CD as a tangible artifact of collaboration, encourages designers and musicians to inspire one another, and fosters a sense of creative exchange. By creating space—both physical and digital—for shared discovery, Muse asks: how can design help us reconnect with music on a deeper, more personal level?

TAKEAWAY

TAKEAWAY

what did I want to do and how did I tackle it?

bridge the gap

By designing both a physical installation and a collaborative website, I made space for creatives to share, inspire, and co-create.

celebrate physicality

I brought back CDs, handwritten notes, and layered visuals to spark nostalgia and highlight music’s visual identity.

create an immersive experience

I combined analog and digital touchpoints—like a CD chandelier, a desk setup, and a web platform—to make Muse both hands-on and widely shareable.

reconnect people with music

I wanted to encourage deeper engagement with music, so I created a tactile, interactive space that invites exploration and collaboration.
